This is kind of a serious topic, but one that everyone needs to be aware of. Last night 60 minutes had a segment on the perils of the Internet. They talked with Symantec which is the maker of Norton anti-virus.

It is very important to have a good anti-virus program on your computer, and to also update the anti-virus often. The word is that there is a "Conficker" worm out there that may cause major problems on April 1rst...what will it do? Just be prepared, and be protected.

A dear friend of mine was just hacked and her ebay account compromised. Always check your accounts and make sure to change your passwords often. Let's put it this way...there is a person in NY who is walking around with a free 2,300.00 lap top. If you are a seller on ebay be wary of "Vilma Printing addresses with apt#s". Also the name "M. Perez" was used to sign for the package. I looked up the name and there was a business nearby "M. Perez Hairstyles". So the hacker was using business names.

Now the hacker may just be using the business names, or any address close by the delivery point.

If anyone asks you to ship over night and gives you an alternate address...don't ship. The word is on this that the seller will not get the monies for the lap top.

There has been a sherriff's report filed.

Why do I tell you this? Please be careful, be wise about buying online.

Also, if your emails suddenly stop coming in your inbox? Check your server. Make sure a hacker has not forwarded your emails to an alternate address. If this has happened? Go into your mail settings on the server and click on foward mail and then delete the forward address, and check do not forward mail...then change your password. Always change passwords often.

The hacker in question actually sent a test email to my friend's inbox after it had been switched back. His IP would also be logged with Ebay, and they might just get a good description from the Fedex driver.

If you watched the program last night, then you would have noticed that there is a group of young Russian hackers who work under psuedo names.

I had a crazy thing happen with Ebay also...and it was a Russian..I am sure of it...

NASTY BUSINESS...I have now changed my passwords weekly..and will never again give out any credit card info thru any site...secure or NOT...LOL!

Last night I saw the Dali Lama speak about the whole internet spying thing happening apparently based in China.

He said something way cool I will try and remember it, but it's a loose paraphrase

'If you are trying to be open, honest and transparent there is no reason to spy, just ask the person face to face your question, this is much better'

I could not agree more. It's cowardly to spy and gather knowledge of someone else's business cause it leads to a feeling of superiority, invasion of privacy, misguided power and downright mistrust.

I guess it like anything else that makes one feel like they can control others, it's wrong most know that, but it gives them a sense of false power.

Man what a world! This is exactly what Orwell thought and more...

Fast, amongst my friends everybody knows that this has been my MOTTO for decades. They all know, they can ask me anything and I will always be open and honest. Therefore, they also know, if they do not want to know the truth, they are not going to ask me...LOL!!!

It's a great way to live life!!!

But unfortunately, too many people have wicked sides to themselves and get a better kick out of life by spying, starting rumors and such instead of just approaching the other human being and have a decent conversation to satisfy their curious inquisitive minds.

My friend got her money back from paypal. I was so thankful that they made good on it for her. The case is now in the hands of a detective. My friend also knows I am warning people, and she thinks people should be aware.
