Thanks Sue Big Grin We are leaving in the morning. Our babies are staying with a beautiful young lady who is about to graduate and go on to college to be a Vet. I used to keep her as a child...they grow up fast Big Grin

The birds settled in fine and started to preen, but I miss them already Wink But this way?... they get a vacation too, and I know lissa will take great care of them. She also works part time for a vet.

I will take plenty of photos of Virginia Beach.

Gonna chill turnin' "over the hill" Big Grin

Love, Janet

On the way to the beach we just took 85 and didn't see too much countryside. There was some drama though. A beautiful yellow mustang was engulfed in flames as we drove by. It looked like the fire was electrical, as the engine hood was up, but the engine itself was not on fire. Too bad because it looked like a nice car.

It took us around 5 hours plus to get to VB. Since we had never been there before, we kind of scouted out places to eat, and then made our way to the hotel. The hotels are lined up like ducks with a few breaks here and there. Lots of shops and eats, all within walking distance.

What I liked the most was the cool boardwalk and bicycle trail on the oceanfront. People were walking, running, skating, skateboarding, and there were cool buggy bikes. Looked to be no restrictions on riding.

We got a great deal on a room with a balcony. As soon as I got in the room? I grabbed the binoculars and went to check out the view. Once you have had an oceanfront room it is hard to go back. I even was matter of fact about the poor wifi in our room. When I asked about signals? I was told it was in the hall. Big woman sitting in hot hall trying to get a connection didn't seem appealing so I just used the laptop for photo viewing...hahaha!

We stayed busy going to lighthouses, playing jungle golf, and checking out local restaurants. The first night we went to Abbey Road a pub full of Beatles memorabilia. I was told they have music every night, and the day we were there was open mike. The food was good.

James is usually a good driver, and I was a bit surprised when he went through some bushes into a circular drive/street...I looked beside me and saw bushes and bricks...hahaha! Needless to say, some people sitting outside on steps near where the truck came off the curb had their mouths drop open Big Grin James thought it was a road...hahaha! Short cut to Jungle Golf Wink

I had looked online and found a breakfast place called Mary's so we went there one morning. Two servicemen were behind us so I told James I was going to thank them for their service to our country. James then paid for their dinners. I think they were surprised, but I told them my dad was in service and I didn't know if anyone ever thanked him.

Before you go to a resort town, scout out places to eat on the web. Read some reviews, because you can pay alot for poor food if you are not careful. If you don't mind looking a few miles down the road you can find the chain restaurants, and if your room has a fridge? Take sandwich meats for a snack.

I was hoping to hear some cool music while at the beach, but a friend of mine actually said the DJ'S were playing at the Travelodge Campground...ahh well, we will be going back, maybe next trip to VB Big Grin Lol...The only music I heard was the fire drill in our hotel...hahaha. I kept hearing a buzzing sound so I stuck my head out and lights were flashing in the hall. James was on the balcony so I called to him to grab something and go to the hallway. Then I saw the security guy and he said it was a test...I passed with flying colors...lol! Back to the room:O)

I look forward to going back sometime...I didn't want to leave Big Grin

Love, Janet
