Seriously though, I know how painful a power loss can be for your website, I've experienced it a couple of times myself. Thank goodness there was always a pretty recent backup of the database and my files. These things just happen...harddrives crash, CPU's get overheated, network cards refuse to work, DNS server problems...you name it. I've even seen a fried CPU, it was bitch black! haha. I guess that Linux server had been 'up' for too long

ever smelled one? I fried the logic board on my last PowerBook and I'd rather not smell that again...

No thankfully I have never smelled one, but that must have been really nasty!

The CPU in that machine 'died' over the weekend, and we didn't find out until we wanted to get some files from our local network on the Monday after.

"hey the screen's not working...maybe the videocard is broken?"...so we replaced the videocard, but nothing happened. And then we decided to take a look at the motherboard It was replaced in no time though, and we were able to get to work within one hour I believe
