Alright, so here is the deal with what seems to have angered some of you. You overreacted. I just received a reply from Groupee (formally Infopop) re reports of missing posts and PMs. As I stated in another topic, Admin nor Mods have the ability to edit, view, nor delete PMs. The fact that even these were missing led me to believe that there had been a system failure of some sort. Here is my email to Groupee and their response:

We were able to restore all of the sites from a backup, but the backup was about 23 hours old, as the drive died just before backup time last night. I apologize for the loss of any posts or member data. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

What I still don't get is why members would think I would "choose" to make the effort to delete posts by a number of people across different topics as well as PMs. I think the record has shown that this is not a community governed by an iron hand, though in particular circumstances exceptions may be made, of course.... and I typically receive praise and thanks by many of you when the need arises.

Relax, calm down, and think about it... I am always an email away.

As I thought and said before, it was all a technicall problem...What I don't understand is how can somebody could think that someone could erase their posts and PM's!

What was wrong with the site at around 8-9:00 am EST? I wasn't even able to get to the forum.

Whatever time it was, I've posted the email that staes the cause. There isn't anything else to sort out or say. The site is hosted by Groupee and they had a hard drive failure. At minimum we should all be thankful that they run daily backups and that our entire archives weren't wiped out... at minimum we should drop all other talk and be thankful.

Now MJ, don't over-react. I believe the Poopster was inquiring about this morning. I had the same problem.

I don't mean to react so, but I think its being read into way too much. I spend so much of my time online and when sites aren't loading...they aren't loading. Are any of you as tired of this terror warning system as I am? There are a lot of things that go on at the backend of websites, and they sometimes make it to the front end... If the site was inaccessible again then I imagine it had something to do with the hard drive failure which occured in the previous 24 hours.

I don't intend to come across as rude, but when I log in and have people leaving, making allegations, etcetera.... it becomes a bit perplexing to say the least.

I am not upset at all as I write. I know written word can be misleading in that regard. When you ask me not to over-react though, Sara, I can only ponder why you did not post the exact same sentiments to those who chose to leave.


...and the other side of the coin is that many of you apparently thought someone had deleted the content because they did not like what you were saying about Seal, the forum, etcetera... I haven't even gone down that road yet...

They had their own reasons, and it is their perrogative, that's why.

Michael I feel your pain.

Anyone who's had to work with websites on a large scale knows what this is all about. its UGLY and its very frustrating all the way around, but at the end of the day nothing can really be done but going forward.


Even though I happen to love the internet, I think its too bad that generally you can't see one another's expressions as you're typing . If we could see those things maybe some things wouldn't get misconstrued. But thats what emoticons are for, we all just have to make the best of it I suppose.


So on that note, here's my feelings all day today (or at least up until the point I started typing this message)

Sara, you make sense of course, as usual. I think I still make a good point though. It seems as there is a group of members aimed at exposing whats wrong and what might be able to happen to bug strategic people enough, rather doing what your public sentiments suggest.

Out of fairness to those many, many, many members and visitors who visit this site merely to learn about Seal a bit more, I will be closing all topics related to this issue, which is still a blur as only 1 member has emailed me and she seems to not be a part of all this...

The topics will be closed this evening so speak your piece now. For those of you who choose to think that I strategically took the time to delete individual posts and PMs... Do you really think I have the time to do so? If so, consider that it is IMPOSSIBLE to delete PMs other than your own. Don't believe me? Log onto the Groupee site and see for yourself.

I absolutely do not think you took time to delete certain messages. You were in Chicago proposing to Effie! I wrote to Fast and asked him about a post of mine that had disappeared. He replied that he honestly had no idea what happened. I believed him because said post was actually one in which I was sticking up for Fast. It was a computer glitch, I get it!

As for why some people left, I was not in contact with them before they left and haven't been since. Since it started in a private topic, I choose to keep what was said private.

I don't envy your position. Do what you think is best. I am saddened and disillusioned by this place lately, but will try to ride it out.

BTW, does anyone else find the name of the new server a bit ironic?

What was in that private topic should have stayed there, somehow (or someone!) leaked parts of it through to the public forum... not a place it should have been at all as it was contained there.
Regardless, yes i have to admit it did seem a bit 'coincidental' that posts both publically and privaly disappeared suddenly, especially as my personal posts in the 'private topic' were also in support of FC (who i will also re-itterate in my personal opinion has done a great job in your absence Michael, but that goes without saying!)

Well, that being said, lets just say that things are normal now. As far as I'm concerned they are... I STILL haven't a complete grasp of how all of this could happen, but lets all take some deep breaths and move forward on a frwesh page.

Ok Folks , lots has gone on in the past few days , for the record I never once for a momemt thought that the missing posts were an intentional thing as this has happened in the past here a simple glitch. My only qualm is the Epson thread, I have spoken to memebers that left but as a good friend I have to respect their choices on this matter. Funny thing is a simple apology would have gone along way in defusing this little mess, not to me but to those whom objected to being referred to in a certain manner and as sensitive as I am which is very much I can also shrug certain things off what was said in private
i had no problem shrugging off but what was stated on the open board I did take offence to. Somehow I do hope that all involved can move beyond this hopefully by all being honest . This is supposed to be a place of love and it has been missing here for a few days lets all lay egos aside and get together.
