Old man Honeycutt walked from Pyatt to his home 2 miles away. He was crossin' Crooked Creek, when his wife heard him callin' "Sissy, come and get me...I'm somewhere over the moon" (the moon was shining on the water).

Here's a post from someone who was at the Soundstage performance. This is from the DISboards site I'm a member of also . . .

quote:
What a night!

The Soundstage taping was AWESOME!!!

We were literally 10 feet from the stage! I'm sure we'll be on TV at least a little, because Seal sang right to us several times. He came out at 8pm and was dressed in a suit & tie and he was backed up with a full band, including horns, strings, a grand piano, back up singers, plus his usual guitar/synth players & drummer. He sang several songs from his new album coming out on Nov. 11th. It's called Soul and you can hear the first track on his website Seal.com It really felt like we we were hearing a concert from the height of the 60's. Very cool.

Here's a track listing of what's on the album...

1. A Change Is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke
2. I Can't Stand The Rain - Ann Peebles
3. It's A Man's Man's Man's World - James Brown
4. People Get Ready - The Impressions
5. Knock On Wood - Eddie Floyd
6. I've Been Loving You - Otis Redding
7. Here I Am - Al Green
8. Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) - Marvin Gaye
9. In The Midnight Hour - Wilson Pickett
10. It's Alright - The Impressions
11. My Girl - The Temptations
12. I'm Still In Love With You - Al Green
13. Stand By Me - Ben E. King
14. Free - Denise Williams
15. Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley
16. Papa Was A Rolling Stone - The Temptations
17. Only You - The Platters

Really amazing stuff. He talked quite a bit in between songs and during camera tape changes. He told stories about how he started out, and how the new album came about. He also talked a bit about Heidi & the kids and how hard it is to be away from them. He wears a gold necklace that has gold discs on it that has each of their names engraved on them. At one point, during a tape change, he asked if anyone wanted to hear anything - someone shouted out 'Fly Like an Eagle' - without hesitation, he just started belting it out and then the guitar player started in, and it was like we were watching a 'jam session'. After about an hour, they took a 20 minute break and completely changed the stage for the next set. He came back out in a white shirt and jeans and played with just his usual band - a guitar, bass & drums. He went through about 6 songs from previous albums, and it was very much like the Sunday night concert. Man, he can REALLY sing when he gets into it. The audience was going crazy the whole time. There were 11 TV cameras all over the studio and there was a huge boom camera that sweeped over the audience and stage to get close ups. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any pictures or video at all. They had very strict rules about bringing in a camera or cell phone and we had to go through a bag search. We just put our camera & phones in our car. Anyway, the taping was over at about 10:45. Not sure how long the Soundstage show will be when it airs. They have enough footage for a 2 hour show, but it might be cut to an hour or hour and a half. The audience was a mix of WTTW/PBS supporters (VIP donors) and corporate sponsors. The Seal website/fan club contest that I won only had 30 seats - but they were on the main floor right by the stage. We didn't stay after to try and talk to him or get his autograph. (Sorry, Glendamax! ) I wanted to, but it was a total zoo in the studio and we had to get home. As it was, we didn't roll into the driveway until after midnight. Steve's a walking zombie at work today. LOL!

We had a great time in Chicago before the concert yesterday, too. We drove up around noon and wandered around Michigan Ave. shops. Steve played in the Mac store (he's dying to get a new iMac) and of course, I had to go into the Disney Store! I found clearance pins for $1.50 each!!! Needless to say, we are SET for trading pins now! After that, we had a late lunch at Gibson's Steakhouse. Yum! We both had a filet - it was delicious. Gibson's is one of the best steakhouses in Chicago. Anyway, after lunch we drove up north to the TV station. We arrived about 5:30, and were in the 1st group of people to get there. We had to wait in line outside the studio until they let us in at 6:45. We met several really nice people in line who were just as excited as us. Many of them flew in or drove from other states just to be there. I guess we were lucky that we lived so close. So, all in all, it was an exceptional day that we will remember forever!

I'm glad I could share this awesome experience with you!

I'm really starting to panic about our trip and can't believe it's only...

4 more days until WDW!!!

I'll be back to do a packing update... as soon as I actually pack! I'm so behind!!!

Take care,
Michelle

Ok..I am gonna vent a bit..

I DO NOT like this marketing trend..dribble things all over the place and force you to buy extra things to get that ONE song...it's ticks me off...JUST give me the full CD...I'll pay the extra price for it to be on ONE albumn.

OK...rant done. LOL!

I just bought the Soul cd at fye. It was $15.99 plus tax. What I was really pleased about was the fact that Seal's Soul cd was upfront in the new releases shelf, and it looked like a few had already been bought Big Grin

I have a question about the discography listed above. I'm assuming all the songs listed are from Seal but are they all available on different albums? I have a good majority of them already but some like "Hey Jude" I can't find anywhere. Any tips on how to track down the more rare tracks?
