Hi He's Sensational, You can buy several of these on Rhapsody and Itunes:

http://www.rhapsody.com/seal

This Could Be Heaven is from the Family Man Soundtrack

Out of the Window is from the Indecent Proposal Soundtrack

Manic Depression with Seal and Jeff Beck is from the Tribute to Jimi Hendrix Album

Several of the songs you mention are also available on itunes:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/

I will play a few of them in the Seal Player so you can hear them:O) Bird of Freedom, Out of the Window, and Puff the Magic Dragon are already on there.

http://home.triad.rr.com/birdfuzz/The%20Path%20to%20Love,%20Love,%20Love.htm

The player and webpage may take a few minutes to load on dial up...you could fix a nice cup of coffee or tea while waiting Smile

I recommend several of these songs. You can also hear I Am and You're Amazing.

Welcome to the board Smile

Love, Janet

Hi he's sensational,

I have put the player up so everyone can hear his collection, but I encourage all of his fans to buy what they can to support him...he has babies to feed Wink

We had a contest a few months ago and I made two discs of rare music to give to the contest winners. This was to get fans interested and involved. Maybe in the future we can have more contests.

I ask that people don't pull the songs from my site, because then I would have to take the player down. I hope they will listen and then go and buy the ones they like. I just wanted it to be a treat...something special for all. I do take requests so if you would like to request a song to someone, then just post it here Smile

You can buy some of his remixes here:

http://www.gemm.com/c/search.pl?field=ARTIST+OR+TITLE&w...o%21.x=25&Go%21.y=13

(You can take the lead as his #1 fan...I am happy just to be here with so many wonderful people...including you).

Love, Janet

"Make Someone Happy" reminds me somehow of good ol` Nat King Cole. What a beautiful song.

Anyone knows what story is behind "Puff"? I mean both the reason why he composed the song, and what story is based on.

Thanks, Mihai.

Hi Mihai,

Puff the Magic Dragon was written by Peter Yarrow in 1958. Here are the lyrics:

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali,
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff,
and brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff. Oh

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali.

Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail,
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flags when Puff roared out his name. Oh!

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali.

A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant's rings make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.

His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain,
Puff no longer went to play, along the cherry lane.
Without his life-long friend, Puff could not be brave,
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. Oh!

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And froliced in the autumn mist in a land called Honali.

Peter Yarrow (Peter. Paul, and Mary)

He based it on a poem by a friend. Here is a great website on the background of the song:

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1276

Make Someone Happy was written by: Betty Comden and Adolph Green and Jule Styne. Here is a story on Comden:

http://www.zap2it.com/movies/news/zap-bettycomdenobit,0,6998850.story

Make Someone Happy was from the Broadway musical Do Re Mi 1960.

Jimmy Durante also did a version of Make Someone Happy and it was featured on the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack.

I think Seal sounds just like Nat King Cole. Make Someone Happy and Mona Lisa are two songs that Seal has covered that reminds me of him.

If Seal does an album of those type classic songs I will "Swoon" Do woman still faint??? Hahaha!

Peace, Janet

I found something like Honnah Lee. Or simple Honali, well it`s not that important Big Grin

Mona Lisa too? Great!
So i`m not the only one who thinks that Seal sounds like Nat King Cole Smile

Right now i am listening to live performance by Seal and Queen, you know very well which song Smile It`s just beautiful! And it gives me goose bumps hearing the crowds singing along... reminds me of ME singing along with him at the concert.

Seal is like a Magnet! Not that he forces you to get close to him... it`s exactly the opposite Wink

I just cannot believe what a huge fan of Seal (both music and person) i`ve become! Both me and my fiancee. Not to mention my parents!
Me, the one who listened to Korn, Infectious Grooves and other noisy music Big Grin And i am sure that this will not fade in time... I have no other words to explain what i am feeling... It`s just... special! I feel so connected to him. Does anyone feel the same?

Thank you ladysingstheblues for the info Wink Tell me, which "additional song" or songs do you like more? I haven`t yet listened to all of them and i would like to hear a relevant opinion from someone who knows all his songs. Are there any other rare songs not mentioned yet?

And sorry fot the offtopic here and there Smile)

I feel the same way you do Mihai, about Seal; his music just takes me to another zone. I heard his 2nd Album first- I was familiar with a few songs on that album already- Kiss from a Rose, Don't Cry- but you know how sometimes people don't like whole albums it usually just a few songs on a album you really like- Well listening to Seal I loved the whole thing- I got the fourth album next -I was already familiar with songs played on the radio- Touch, Loves Divide- but again absolutely loved the whole thing- I then got the first album and so on… the rest is history I have all his albums- live concert albums -even - One Night to Remember not sold in the US- I have records LP’s- back stage passes- I'm obsessed- I have traveled to see him in concert and soon as I get enough money - I'll travel to Britain- England- Paris-Russia.. etc.. I know all his songs and all words to each album- except for the additional songs I recently found out about- Lady sings the blues has been a big help, she is awesome and if you look back to the info she has given me there are sites with the music for the ones I have listed.
I hope I don't sound like a crazed fan- I know there are others that love his music as much as I do!! Seal is simply just sensational!!

Yeah, i get the picture. Beautiful history.
In all this artist world i couldn`t find any other musician who knows to keep us, the fans, so close to him. And yes, i was a little reserved that people would conceive me as a "crazed" fan, more like a fanatic, you know.

Anyway.
I found out that Seal composed back in 92 a main theme song for Toys. The song is The Closing of The Year. Any details, anybody? Big Grin

Here`s one for you:
In 94 Seal appears as backing vocals for Joni Mitchell`s "How Do You Stop", from "Turbulent indigo" album.

It`s not an additional Seal song, it a collaboration, and i didn`t know where to write this.

You can hear Quicksand in the Seal Player

"Quicksand"

I'm closer to the
Golden Dawn
Immersed in Crowley's uniform
Of imagery
I'm living in a silent film
Portraying Himmler's sacred realm
Of dream reality
I'm frightened by the total goal
But drawing to the ragged hole
And I ain't got the power, anymore
No I ain't got the power anymore
I'm the twisted name on Garbo's eyes
I'm living proof of Churchill's lies
I'm destiny
I'm torn between the light and dark
Where others see their targets
Divine symmetry
Should I kiss the viper's fang
Or herald loud the death of Man
'Cause I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thoughts
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
I'm not a prophet or a stone age man
Just a mortal with the potential of a superman
And I'm livin' on
I'm tethered to the logic of Homo Sapien
Can't take my eyes from the great salvation
Of bullshit faith
Oh, ohhh if I can't explain what you want to know
You can tell me all about it
On the next Bardo
'Cause I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thoughts
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
