What a weekend..what a night! Spent the weekend downtown San Diego with my sisters and niece to celebrate birthdays/have some sister time. It was beautiful out and spoiled ourselves with shopping and a spa. My sister and I were fortunate to have my niece's apartment 5 min from the arena so we had more bonding time getting ready and chatting. We bid my niece goodbye and off we headed to the arena, which is on the campus of San Diego State University. We arrived an hour early as it was first come first serve seating. No one was in line but those that were there were hanging out on the grass. About 10 min before the gates opening people started lining up and the doors opened shortly after 6. Of course, the doors directly in front of the gates werent open and they made us go around to side doors. Oh..and it was upper level so we had a huge flight of stairs to run down to get to the seats on the floor. Haha OOh it was fun..but I kept in mind that some people just did the marathon and I was lucky to have just the stairs. Shane came on around 6:30. He was great and very personable. He did his autographs after the show and it seemed everyone was responsive to his music! So I see good things in his future!! Great opening for Seal. At 7:15 they did an awards ceremony for the marathon, which was very moving. The man that won second place was from Kenya and they said he uses the prize money $20,000 to build schools back home. After they exited the stage, they walked right in front of us to get to their VIP seats so we had the opportunity to shake their hands. Amazing..some of the fastest people in the world! When they were shaking our hands, one woman that placed in the marathon turned to me and gave me her flower lei, hugs and a kiss and said she wasnt able to take it on the plane and wanted to give it as a token. The girl next to her from France (2nd place winner) turned to my sister and gave her her lei. The other runners turned to do the same to the people around us. It was a very moving moment! Seal came on around 8 and sang the same songs from this short tour. It was amazing to see people who ran a marathon THAT day up and dancing. Seal had made a comment saying " Seal or no Seal or whomever is playing, if I ran a marathon that same day I wouldnt be here tonight" haha and he jabbed at us saying how many of us really ran the marathon today. Haha.. but he would have given us some credit seeing the stairs we had to climb to get to our seats.. does that count?? I loved that everyone was dancing though and having a good time. My sister's first Seal experience and she was already talking about seeing him for the World Tour..which he said I think would start at the end of the year. It wasnt that crowded either so it was nice to have such a great venue and the tix were only $25! Free for runners and volunteers of the race.. so it was a very very special night! Seal was amazing and full of energy. His voice seemed stronger than ever and his band was energetic!!

hi laura! yes, I almost didnt think I would make it to the concert since it was a Sunday and I am in Orange County, plus I had surgery Friday but that didnt stop me haha. I called my sister and asked if she wanted to take on the adventure with me and she said yes! So I said I would do the drive and late night, if she would grab the tickets at the Expo. Whew! It all fell into place!! I was lucky! Thanks to Janet for letting me know about it also!!

Hey That sounded like a real nice time out. My only problem is with the tickets being so low and all why did you ot bring your neice. Being as though she was nice enough to put you up for the show and all. Seal is a great artist and should also be introduced to the younger crowds. HOw do we come by the music we love. We are given in to it by liking the music of the ones we love. The music that made them happy. It makes us feel close to them. Sharing is what it is all about.
Glad you had a great time though. Good luck on getting tickets for the wold tour. I think you owe your neice a Seal concert (front row center) just my two cents. G. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Gareth Evan Lomax, Today, is not yesterday. |

Dude...that seems ..well..kind of a strange thing to say to someone...maybe the niece didn't want to go..maybe the 2 wanted alone time...who knows WHY, but your reply seems kinda..well...harsh. Maybe I am not seeing the humor in the post... "We have chosen hope over fear" -President Barack Obama Jan 20, 2009 |

I did ask her to go..I introduced my sister to Seal's concert experience that night and of course I asked my niece. But sorry, her music tastes are more into other things. I tried! Obviously a big Seal fan like I am would try! I love his music and share it often. ANd yes it was a wonderful time as always |
