The Beginning |
I have a pretty sharp ear as well as some experience with autotuning software, and I'd swear that in some of your recent work I'm hearing the use of an autotuner. Your voice is far too great to need such a thing, and regardless of whether or not you've used it, I truly hope that in the future you will stay away from this evil software... it takes away the imperfections that give a singer his or her own unique sound.
On a side note, although I've certainly been familiar with several of your better-known songs, I've only recently discovered your work on a greater scale. It's almost sad that it took so long for me to discover your incredible music, but better late than never! I only hope that one day my own music will be as thoughtful as your own. Thank you. |

Auto tuners are evil creations. Acheiving a sound of distinction is well, a process. In some forms and with moderation can a sound be achieved seperately but, equally successful as other great songs.
In the history of music one of the first bands to do a real LIVE album was KISS ALIVE II (Gene Simmons, PAul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley.) All other live albums were compared to this monument of recording. It took narly 2 years and suprisingly some studio samples to completely edit the album to provide authenticity to the completed works (studio recordings to complete a LIVE album (paradoxical but true)). Does this take away from KISS - hell no. Those bad asses showed the industry what it was about and how it was all to be done. Every band has to acheive a new processing for their performances or their music becomes stale. Hopefully, the use of autotuners will not detract from the rawness of the recording. But, not every sng could be as raw and unrefined. Someting has to give way. Seal is in charge of that at his discretion I willingly liten with anticipation and much appreciation. The completd work is his message to us. Overall. I agree autotuners are evil. I also agree Seals voice is far to great to apply such methods on a continuous basis. Some new methods of recording and much experimentation is suggested. G. Today, is not yesterday. |

Not technical just an idea.
5 area mics 1 vocal mic 4 mics along the body (diaphra, larynx and chest) simultaneously recorded in severe expression of passion and love. 1 more mic headset to pick up wisps. specifically design to catch airflow ina normal speaking voice. Record additonal times syncing to music wafers of sound accompaniment. 'I have a bid that whitles and I have bids that sing' G. Today, is not yesterday. |
