I definitely put this CD on my Top 10 List for 90s releases.

Amazing production!

Yes,i did buy HB album.....like the others,i love it....i cant tell if it is the best album, cause each one is different from the others albums.....
HB is more intense, reflexive, there is passion and love.More introspective too.Ya,is really not like the Seal I and II.The first is kind a circa, mixind lots of types of music and songs, more upbeat and idealistic....the second is so much spiritual,a love exalant album.....
This latest is more black and soul music, with grooves of R&B,but jamming "Seal authentic songs",like Loneliest star, love's divine, tinsel town...
HB isnt less deeper and good as the others....my opinion....
All the albums are the best....

So I finally got the HB CD a week ago, and OMG - can't believe what I've been missing. At first, I only liked one song - 'When a man is wrong'. Then 'Colours' became my favorite. Now, I have been using the CD as my running companion for the entire week, I'm vacillating. From start to finish, I'm completely drawn into the CD.

Funny how Seal's music grows on you. It pulls you in - no matter how hard you fight the impulse.

That's what good music is about. My spirit has been exposed to HB. Not a moment too soon.

Peace!! Smile

I absolutely agree. I watched the EPK on the site.

In it he talks about the styles of the music he listened to growing up and how that influenced this album. When I first heard Don't Make Me Wait, the first thing that came to mind was Sam Cook.

I think its fabulous to draw from those influences in that way. His voice will always be disinctive no matter what he sings though. If you guys haven't seen it then go and do that its so worth it!

Though I have to wonder, maybe had he listened to Kiss growing up if the sounds would be different... Eek

I totally agree. Human Being is good from beginning to end. With Seal IV, I find myself skipping a few tracks. The little I've heard of Togetherland, does sound reminiscent of Human Being. If Trevor really had anything to do with Togetherland being stifled, he should let Seal play straight from his heart for an album or 2 & then worry about the charts later. Please release Togetherland! As history goes, all artists fizzle - & ironically it seems to snowball after a greatest hits cd, in my opinion. Seal has proven to be a unique, true artist. I think the 'fans' he's captured aren’t fair-weather. His lyrics, vocals, and musical arrangements are just too touching.

It's his best album to date. It wasn't commercial enough is why it didn't do well on the charts. Which song do you think would have promoted well? I think none of them - they just weren't plain enuff for the general nitwits. HB was a spiritual orchestral journey. Every part, every song, every hum is meaningful.

I've been listening to IV for a few weeks now. I do skip some of the songs like others have said. I just listened to HB again today after a long break and it touched me very deeply.

I listened to Human Being today. Haven't heard it in a while. Very beautiful. More jazz oriented. And also very sad. It feels like he just broke up with someone. Perhaps it hit on emotions that many people did not want to deal with. Not one of your more upbeat cds but beautiful nevertheless. I adore his new one. Especially after seeing him perform most of it live. Now it would be really nice to have a video compilation, a live cd and a live dvd. I don't want much. Just more.

This was a very emotional time for me. I remember flying down the highway after breaking up with my girlfriend, face full of tears, with Seal telling me, "Oh my friend, you know sometimes you get things wrong to get things right." WOW! That was so powerful.

Anyway, I've never understood how fans(not true fans) or Seal have generally regarded Human Beings as a poor album. Another of my favorite artists, Me'Shell Ndegeocello released an album a number of years ago titled Bitter. It was perhaps the most moody and depressing cd's I've heard and a break from her normal funk tempo. Obviously a reflection of where she had traveled as an artist. But fans weren't impressed. I was.

Keep giving us the best that you have Seal.

I thought Human Being was a great cd. I was surprised that it didn't get good reviews and that it didn't sell well but reading these posts I think it sold more than I thought.

Crazy radio stations!

There has to be about 10 boneheads who control the airwaves in this country! Don't know really, but it appears so.

Remember the 80's? If not it's cool it can be a blur. Music varied greatly! All kinds of cool stuff. 70's too and 60's where it all stemmed from, in my opinion.

People experimented, were not afraid that their music would not be heard. There was a certain kind of freedom. Punk rockers, preps, rock, funk, soul, disco and more. MTV which was born in the 80's reflected that as well in the videos. Now...who knows!

Now? I don't know what is going on now. Not dissin' the music today mind you. But I guess I am old school. Today's modern music just kind of all blends in. Which is why we are here on this site?

No individuality in alot of todays new stuff (but that last statement is not exactly true how can it be?)

Yea Human Beings are robbed! I mean was robbed!

Well, my girlfriend bought it for me as a gift after I requested it for Christmas the year it came out.

While I really didn't give it proper credit at the time (I listened to it, but I just couldn't get into it), but after dusting it off recently and dropping it into the CD player...I now LOVE EVERY TRACK. Personal faves are State of Grace, Colour, and Lost My Faith.

JR1 - I have come around to your thinking. Since getting HB, I have been listening to all of the CDs, and keep going back to HB. As much as I like IV, it's positive message, dancceability, grooves, etc, HB keeps drawing me back.

Yet, I try not to compare.

Why did it not do well? IMO, coming after the mega hit of II, it was a bit dark. somber, moody, so much else was also happening, musically.

I also think that the listening public has their full of the current music and entertainers, and is ready to listen to something else.

Timing, in this industry, is everything.

Peace! Smile

I love human being, I was lucky enough to be given a HUGE instore promo poster , full colour pic of the cover. The owner of the record store where I used to work kept it for me, knowing I was a huge fan.

I love the album for the rawness in the recording style/sound and also I was going through alot of bad vibes, and 3 of the songs on that album connected with me in a pretty cool way. When youre down and a song connects it seems to make sense of a situation, where there isnt sense.

I bought it as soon as it came out, as I would ANY CD from our man!

Just popped it in my car's CD player recently. Was like visiting with an old friend and we caught up right where we left off. After a few days, though, it was time to visit with one of my happier friends......

I bought H.B the day it came out and I remember listening to it cooking dinner on weekends @ the time I was expecting my second child and well my mind was busy with that so it wasn't til over a yr later that I paid attention to the lyrics , and realized how sad some of it is. In the beginning just found that sexy voice soothing and relaxing. I love all of Seal's music so far haven't found a song I would skip over. Smile

I just bought it and recieved it yesterday. Let me say that I usually like to listen to upbeat and happy music, which Human Beings is not. But I have to say I absolutely love it. It is very powerful and soulful. Very good.
